Convinced that Americans would love a two-seat sports car, Harley Earl was the driving force behind the development of the Corvette. Now in its eighth major design change, the Corvette remains "America's Favorite Sportscar". The 1959 model was part of the 1st generation of Corvettes now known as C1's.
